A lawsuit filed in a Miami federal court accuses the Coca-Cola Company, its Colombian subsidiary and business affiliates of collaborating with paramilitary death squads to threaten, kidnap and murder union leaders at its Colombian bottling plants.

The lawsuit was filed on July 20 by the United Steelworkers of America and the Washington-based International Labor Rights Fund on behalf of Sinaltrainal, the union that represents Colombian Coca-Cola workers, the estate of murdered union leader Isidro Segundo Gil and five other unionists who worked for Coca-Cola and were targeted by paramilitaries. "We are filing this case to show our solidarity with the embattled trade unions of Colombia," says Steelworkers President Leo Gerard.

The National Union of Food Industry Workers (Spanish: Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Industria de Alimentos, SINALTRAINAL) is a Colombian food industry trade union.

The group has repeatedly tried to form unions in Colombia for workers of Panamco, a Colombian Coca-Cola bottling company, and have documentation of many members or leaders being murdered, kidnapped, and tortured by right-wing paramilitary groups such as the AUC[1][2] in order to prevent unionisation. They are a central focus of the ongoing Coca-Cola boycott movement [3] prevalent across college campuses worldwide (see criticism of Coca-Cola).

John Pemberton
EXCERPT:
Invention of Coca-Cola
In April 1865, Pemberton was wounded in the Battle of Columbus, Georgia, and like many wounded veterans he became addicted to morphine. After the war Pemberton knew he had a problem so he became a pharmacist at the Eagle Drug & Chemical Company in Columbus. Searching for a cure for this addiction, he began experimenting with coca and coca wines, eventually creating his own version of Vin Mariani, containing kola nut and damiana, which he called Pemberton's French Wine Coca.[4][5]

File:Dr Pemberton.JPG
Dr. Pemberton Inventer of Coca-ColaWith public concern about drug addiction, depression and alcoholism among veterans, and 'neurasthenia' among 'highly-strung' Southern women,[6] his medicinal concoction was advertised as being particularly beneficial for "ladies, and all those whose sedentary employment causes nervous prostration, irregularities of the stomach, bowels and kidneys, who require a nerve tonic and a pure, delightful diffusable stimulant".[7]

In 1885, when Atlanta and Fulton County enacted temperance legislation, Pemberton produced a nonalcoholic alternative to his French Wine Coca. Frank Mason Robinson came up with the name "Coca-Cola" for the alliterative sound, which was popular among other wine medicines of the time. Although the name quite clearly refers to the two main ingredients, the controversy over cocaine content would later prompt The Coca-Cola Company to state that it is "meaningless but fanciful". Robinson also hand wrote the Spencerian script on the bottles and ads. Pemberton also made many health claims for his product and marketed it as 'delicious, refreshing, exhilarating, invigorating' and touted it as a 'valuable brain tonic' that would cure headaches, relieve exhaustion and calm nerves.

The original formula allegedly called for 8.46 mg of cocaine, while an average dose of the street drug is between 15 and 35 mg. However, the effects of the coca leaf is greatly compounded by the presence of caffeine from the kola nut. Coca-Cola was originally advertised as a cure for morphine and opium addictions among a multitude of other health benefits.

Asa Candler bought the business in 1888. In 1894, Coke was sold in bottles for the first time. During World War II, bottling plants were set up in Europe, Africa, and the Pacific islands.

[edit] John Pemberton in Popular Culture
In 2010 the Coca-Cola Company paid tribute to Pemberton as a key character within an advertising campaign called Secret Formula. Centered on the secret ingredients of Coca-Cola, imagery related to Pemberton was used to make people more aware of Coke’s history and mythology.

Branding Santa Claus
EXCERPT:
Coke Lore
Coca-Cola® and Santa Claus
Most people can agree on what Santa Claus looks like -- jolly, with a red suit and a white beard. But he did not always look that way, and Coca-Cola® advertising actually helped shape this modern-day image of Santa.

2006 marked the 75th anniversary of the famous Coca-Cola Santa Claus. Starting in 1931, magazine ads for Coca-Cola featured St. Nick as a kind, jolly man in a red suit. Because magazines were so widely viewed, and because this image of Santa appeared for more than three decades, the image of Santa most people have today is largely based on our advertising.

Before the 1931 introduction of the Coca-Cola Santa Claus created by artist Haddon Sundblom, the image of Santa ranged from big to small and fat to tall. Santa even appeared as an elf and looked a bit spooky.

At KillerCoke's Website You'll find a raft of information on Coke and its bottlers' operations in Colombia. There is extensive documentation of rampant violence committed against Coke's unionized workforce by paramilitary forces, and powerful claims of the company's complicity in the violence.

An April 2004 report from a fact-finding delegation headed by New York City Council Member Hiram Monserrate contends:

“To date, there have been a total of 179 major human rights violations of Coca-Cola's workers, including nine murders. Family members of union activists have been abducted and tortured. Union members have been fired for attending union meetings. The company has pressured workers to resign their union membership and contractual rights, and fired workers who refused to do so.”

Advertising and the selling of obesity
EXCERPT:
Coca-Cola serves as a good example of how product advertising changed over this forty-year period. When first introduced in the 1880s, the product was marketed as a medicine, with claims that it cured headaches, and that it "revived and sustained" a person. Seeking to build repeat business and brand loyalty, by the 1920s the company emphasized it as a refreshment and a "fun food". Consumers demanding the cola at soda fountains could pressure storeowners to stock it, or risk losing their business. Today Coca-Cola is one of the largest and most visible companies in the world thanks to its successful advertisement campaigns.

Published: December 18, 2007
SAN FRANCISCO — In a move he says is necessary to trim the city’s waistline, the decidedly slim mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, has proposed charging big stores a fee when they sell sugar-sweet soda.

The proposal, which was reported by The San Francisco Chronicle on Monday, would put an as yet-to-be-defined surcharge on all drinks with high-fructose corn syrup, which puts the sweet pop in most nondiet sodas and many other food products. The syrup also puts on the pounds, something city officials say strains the health care system.

Mayor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat who is running for lieutenant governor, has dictated that vending machines on city property may no longer sell sugary drinks. His directive allows "ample choices' of water, soy milk, rice milk, and other similar dairy or non-dairy milk," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Flying Cocaine From Curaçao To The Netherlands
By Steve Leslie
After a nine hour flight from Curaçao to Amsterdam, we had finished securing B767-200 TF-ATY, and were preparing to leave the aircraft and make haste to our layover hotel. As I stepped out of the flight deck, I noticed a number of Dutch customs officers looking very much like Israeli commandos standing by the 1L (left forward) entry door. The “commandos” were waiting for the last passengers to deplane, so that they could initiate a routine search of the aircraft. Their mascot, a drug sniffing dog, seemed particularly eager to begin his duties and find a “treat." A few minutes after the last passenger had gone; the dog had skilfully located a “treat” in the back of an economy class seat pocket. The dog treat turned out to be one kilo of unprocessed cocaine, also known as cocaine hydrochloride (HCL).

There Are Two Socialisms

"There are two Socialisms.
One is communistic, the other solidaritarian.
One is dictatorial, the other libertarian.
One is metaphysical, the other positive.
One is dogmatic, the other scientific.
One is emotional, the other reflective.
One is destructive, the other constructive.
Both are in pursuit of the greatest possible welfare for all.
One aims to establish happiness for all, the other to enable each to be happy in his own way.

The first regards the State as a society sui generis, of an especial essence, the product of a sort of divine right outside of and above all society, with special rights and able to exact special obediences; the second considers the State as an association like any other, generally managed worse than others.

The first proclaims the sovereignty of the State, the second recognizes no sort of sovereign.

One wishes all monopolies to be held by the State; the other wishes the abolition of all monopolies.

One wishes the governed class to become the governing class; the other wishes the disappearance of classes.

Both declare that the existing state of things cannot last.

The first considers revolutions as the indispensable agent of evolutions; the second teaches that repression alone turns evolutions into revolution.

The first has faith in a cataclysm.
The second knows that social progress will result from the free play of individual efforts.

Both understand that we are entering upon a new historic phase.

One wishes that there should be none but proletaires.
The other wishes that there should be no more proletaires.

The first wishes to take everything away from everybody.
The second wishes to leave each in possession of its own.

The one wishes to expropriate everybody.
The other wishes everybody to be a proprietor.

The first says: 'Do as the government wishes."
The second says: 'Do as you wish yourself.'

The former threatens with despotism.
The latter promises liberty.

The former makes the citizen the subject of the State.
The latter makes the State the employee of the citizen.

One proclaims that labor pains will be necessary to the birth of a new world.
The other declares that real progress will not cause suffering to any one.
The first has confidence in social war.
The other believes only in the works of peace.

One aspires to command, to regulate, to legislate.
The other wishes to attain the minimum of command, of regulation, of legislation.

One would be followed by the most atrocious of reactions.
The other opens unlimited horizons to progress.

The first will fail; the other will succeed.

Both desire equality.

One by lowering heads that are too high.
The other by raising heads that are too low.

One sees equality under a common yoke.
The other will secure equality in complete liberty.

One is intolerant, the other tolerant.
One frightens, the other reassures.
The first wishes to instruct everybody.
The second wishes to enable everybody to instruct himself.

The first wishes to support everybody.
The second wishes to enable everybody to support himself.
One says:
The land to the State
The mine to the State
The tool to the State
The product to the State

The other says:
The land to the cultivator.
The mine to the miner.
The tool to the laborer.
The product to the producer.
There are only these two Socialisms.

One is the infancy of Socialism; the other is its manhood.

One is already the past; the other is the future.

One will give place to the other......... "

Socialism pretends to be all snuggly and warm with everyone in the embrace of a loving 'Big Brother' who takes care of all our needs and asks for nothing in return.

We see the offer of the Rose, and are intoxicated by the aroma and beauty, and we are willing to suffer a few pricks from the thorns for the good of humanity and the beauty we percieve but we forget about the Fist which follows.

The petals die and fall away all too soon, and all we have left is the the fist and the pricks. ;)

Oh look. They are already forgetting about the rose...

Assassin murdered Diana plan mirroring Milosevic plot admits spy
EXCERPT:
Princess Diana could have been murdered by security services in a plot that mirrored plans to kill Slobodan Milosevic, a former MI6 spy told the inquest into her death yesterday.
Richard Tomlinson said the way Diana died bore an "eerie similarity" to assassination plans he was shown in 1992.
He said documents shown to him by an MI6 officer suggested three ways that the Serbian President could be murdered.

One way was to kill him "in a staged car crash, possibly during one of his visits to the ICFY (International Conference on the former Yugoslavia) in Geneva".
It "even provided a suggestion about how this could be done, such as disorientating Milosevic's chauffeur using a blinding strobe light as the cavalcade passed through one of Geneva's motorway tunnels".
Witnesses to the events of August 31, 1997, claim to have seen a "bright white flash" in the Alma tunnel in Paris moments before the crash in which Diana and Dodi Fayed died.
After watching a documentary on Diana's death, Tomlinson wrote a letter to the French authorities containing details of the plans.

Death of Slobodan Milosevic
EXCERPT:
On Saturday 11 March 2006, former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milošević died in his cell while being tried for war crimes at the ICTY in The Hague, which caused a stir and was a major political event, especially for Serbia and Russia. He died only months before the verdict was due for his four-year trial. Many doubt that the immediate cause of his death was a heart attack. It is a subject of heated discussions and a political issue whether the latter was provoked deliberately and who, if anyone, is responsible for it. It occurred shortly after the court denied his request to seek specialized medical treatment at a cardiology clinic in Moscow.[1][2]

Obesity Tied to Lack of Sleep, Say Researchers
By Miranda Hitti
WebMD Health NewsNov. 16, 2004 -- Skimping on sleep may make you more vulnerable to obesity, according to a new study.

The finding is based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey I (NHANES I). More than 9,000 people participated in the initial study, which was conducted from 1982-1984. They were initially weighed, and later, researchers obtained a self-reported weight for follow-up. More than 8,000 people took part in a 1987 follow-up study.

People who reported getting less than seven hours of sleep a night were more likely to be obese on initial evaluation. The study also showed that they were also more likely to develop obesity during follow-up.

"It had been a spine-tingling moment when I was processing data late at night and realized there was a word underneath citizens," said scientist Fenella France, who revealed the correction at the LoC's labs, in a press release. "Then I began the tough process of extracting the differences between spectrally similar materials to elucidate the lost text."

According to the Library, the correction was suspected in the past--similar language exists in state constitutions--but not demonstrable until now.

"Subjects."

That's what Thomas Jefferson first wrote in an early draft of the Declaration of Independence to describe the people of the 13 colonies.

This Story
With the stroke of a pen, 'subjects' no more
'Subjects' of attention
But in a moment when history took a sharp turn, Jefferson sought quite methodically to expunge the word, to wipe it out of existence and write over it. Many words were crossed out and replaced in the draft, but only one was obliterated.

Over the smudge, Jefferson then wrote the word "citizens."

Citizens or subjects

A Citizen or a Subject
What is the difference between a citizen, and a subject?

Very simple. A citizen has rights, a subject has priviliges.

Some believe that one can be free in a monarchy, if the laws are structured properly. That in fact, their societies can be more free than more democratic ones, because the head of state can overrule any law that would violate the freedoms of the peope.

Others believe that since no government, no matter how it is structured, can be depended upon to not vote itself more power, more money, and more control; that anarchy is the solution, and in fact only under anarchy can people be free.

I have to make clear, both of these thoughts are entirely mistaken.

There is no monarchy, even a constitutional monarchy, where the people are truly free. It comes down to the difference between a citizen, and a subject.

There is no way that anarchy can exist without the weak becoming subject to the strong.

It is as citizens, participating in a free state, where we are subject to none but ourselves, but where we are citizens bound by justifiable laws, that we are most free as a people.

As individuals we may be more free under anarchy for a time, but as a people, the strong will dominate the weak, and our society as a whole will suffer for it, as will each individual member within it eventually; But that's a second order effect that anarchists dont tend to see. They don't follow their argument to its eventual end.

It all comes down to the difference between a citizen, and a subject.

Even though our government has overreached greatly, and grown into the monster it is today, we are still at core free men, different from almost all others in this world.

Taking as an examle Britain; as a subject of the queen, technically speaking you don't have any rights, you have whatever priviliges the queen allows you.

This is a story of information given by my father Samuel Todd Churchill on his deathbed, concerning the secrets in the founding of The Mistick Krewe of Comus also called The Mystick Krewe of Comus—a secret New Orleans Mardi Gras society established in 1857. In all fairness to my father, in case he took any blood oaths of secrecy, the information he revealed was done under heavy medication while dying of a very painful lung cancer disease inflicted upon him by years of heavy cigarette smoking. However, in all fairness to myself, I am not under any oaths of secrecy to any secret organizations. In fact, the information revealed by my father was contained for many years in a box in the attic. I never really intended to make this information public until very recently. It is the secret code numbers that he talked about that caused me to go to the attic and take out the tape recordings and my notes.

Mardi Gras and the Illuminati
ECCERPT:
The three secret founders of the Mystick Krewe of Comus were Albert Pike, Judah Benjamin and John Slidell. Judah Benjamin was an agent of the House of Rothschild living in New Orleans in 1857. The House of Rothschild was fearful that the new United States Republic would begin printing its own money and have a central bank not tied into the House of Rothschild. This would weaken the House of Rothschild’s control over the monetary currencies of the world. They had already established a secret bloodline elitist society, incorporating thirteen of the world’s most wealthy families, to eventually establish a New World Order with control over the world’s economy.

In 1832, William Russell, whose family fortunes were made smuggling opium to China through Turkey, founded a chapter of the House of Rothschild’s Illuminati—Knights of Templar at Yale University and called it Skull and Bones. Code numbers are important as a form of identification and communication to the upper echelon within this secret elitist society. Three is a key number. The number 33 is a passage into one of the highest stages of membership within this secret elitist group. The number 13 is a form of identification among these elitists. The official inscription of the Order of Skull and Bones within the building at Yale University called The Tomb is 322. Some people interpret this as the year of its founding, 1832, and that Skull and Bones is one of the 3 chapters of this Brotherhood of Death. The first chapter was founded in Germany. The second Chapter is at Yale University. The third chapter was to eventually be founded, when the time was right, at Tulane University School of Medicine located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

RUSSIA FOR ROTHSCHILD – GET IT WHILE IT’S STILL WARM
EXCERPT:
Inside Russia, Evraz’s drive to extract more volume and more profit out of its coal-mining operations has led, as Prime Minister Vladimir Putin recently intimated, to a string of fatal methane gas explosions and the worst mine safety record in the country — one of the worst in the world. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (cal)

A taste for the high life is not all that sets Mandelson apart
EXCERPTs:
1) Earlier this week, I unearthed and published the fact that Lord Mandelson, the First Secretary of State, had recently spent a shooting weekend at Waddesdon Manor, home of Lord Rothschild. A fellow guest was Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, son of the Libyan dictator. It was Gaddafi junior who accompanied Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber, home to a riotous public welcome in Tripoli in August.

2) Since Peter Mandelson is the second most powerful person in the country (although there are those who say he is actually more powerful than the Prime Minister), we, the public, probably need to make up our minds what we think about this sort of thing. I must say I find it oddly difficult to decide.
David Cameron
EXCERPT:

David Cameron Wikipedia
EXCERPT:
Ancestors in finance
Cameron's forebears have a long history in finance. His father Ian was senior partner of the stockbrokers Panmure Gordon, in which firm partnerships had long been held by Cameron's ancestors, including David's grandfather and great-grandfather,[7] and was a director of estate agent John D Wood. His great-great grandfather Emile Levita, a German-Jewish financier who obtained British citizenship in 1871, was the director of the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China which became Standard Chartered Bank in 1969.[14] His wife, Cameron's great-great grandmother, was a descendant of the wealthy Danish Jewish Rée family.[21][22] One of Emile's sons, Arthur Francis Levita(d.1910) (brother of Sir Cecil Levita),[23] of Panmure Gordon stockbrokers, together with great-great-grandfather Sir Ewen Cameron,[11] London head of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank, played key roles in arranging loans supplied by the Rothschilds to the Japanese central banker (later Prime Minister) Takahashi Korekiyo for the financing of the Japanese Government in the Russo-Japanese war.[24] Another great-grandfather, Ewen Allan Cameron, was senior partner of Panmure Gordon stockbrokers and served on the Council for Foreign Bondholders,[25] and the Committee for Chinese Bondholders (set up by the then-Governor of the Bank of England Montagu Norman in November 1935).[26]

The Rothschilds and their 200 years of political influence
EXCERPT2:
1) Nat Rothschild, the financier at the centre of allegations that threaten to engulf the shadow Chancellor, George Osborne, is no stranger to laws which forbid politicians from accepting donations from abroad.

Political donations from overseas are also illegal in the US, where John McCain's campaign team is under investigation for allegedly accepting a benefit in kind from two mega-rich British citizens, namely Nat Rothschild and his father, Jacob, the Fourth Baron Rothschild.

2) Political donations from overseas are also illegal in the US, where John McCain's campaign team is under investigation for allegedly accepting a benefit in kind from two mega-rich British citizens, namely Nat Rothschild and his father, Jacob, the Fourth Baron Rothschild.

In April, Mr McCain passed through London and spoke at a fund-raising dinner for expatriate Americans, where seats at the cheapest tables cost £500 a head. What caught the eye of Judicial Watch, a Washington-based foundation dedicated to combating corruption, was that the event was held "by kind permission of Lord Rothschild and Hon Nathaniel Rothschild" at the family home in Spencer House, St James's, the only privately owned 17th-century palace in central London.

The US Federal Election Committee is still investigating the allegation that Mr McCain's campaign team broke electoral law by accepting a benefit in kind from the Rothschilds. "We haven't heard from the FEC yet, and don't expect to until after the campaign," Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch said.

The Rothschild family and politics have been intertwined for generations, ever since Nathan Rothschild, who founded the English branch of the family business, financed Britain's war against Napoleon two centuries ago. Nathan was the son of Mayer Rothschild, who founded the family business in the Jewish ghetto in Frankfurt during the 18th century.

Serena Rothschild, Nat Rothschild's mother, was one of the largest individual donors to the Conservative Party last year. She gave £190,000. She has also helped fund Mr Osborne's office.

When another member of the clan, Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, married the New York businesswoman Lynn Forester, they spent the night of their wedding dinner in the White House as guests of Bill Clinton. Lady Rothschild was a fund-raiser for the Democrats, but defected to the McCain camp after her friend Hillary Clinton was beaten to the nomination by Barack Obama.

So it is nothing new for a Rothschild to be mixing with prominent politicians – but generally they do it in a way that does not invite unnecessary publicity. What is unusual about Nat Rothschild's sudden intervention in the affair of the oligarch and the Corfu yacht is the way he has placed himself centre stage. His presumed motive is anger at Mr Osborne's bad manners in passing on what Peter Mandelson had said about Gordon Brown, when Lord Mandelson, Mr Osborne, and Mr Rothschild were guests of the Russian aluminium tycoon Oleg Deripaska.

George Osborne Shadow Chancellor???
EXCERPT:
The Rt Hon. George Gideon Oliver Osborne[1] MP PC (born 23 May 1971) is a British Conservative politician. He is currently the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, a role he was appointed to in May 2010, and has been the Member of Parliament for Tatton since 2001.

Shadow Cabinet
EXCERPT:
The Shadow Cabinet (also called the Shadow Front Bench) is a senior group of opposition spokespeople in the Westminster system of government who together under the leadership of the Leader of the Opposition form an alternative cabinet to the government's, whose members shadow or mark each individual member of the government. Members of a shadow cabinet are often but not always appointed to a Cabinet post if and when their party gets into government. It is the Shadow Cabinet's responsibility to pass criticism on the current government and its respective legislation, as well as offering alternative policies.

In the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia the major opposition party and specifically its shadow cabinet is often called His or Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.[1] The adjective "loyal" is used because, while the role of the opposition is to oppose Her Majesty's Government, it does not dispute the sovereign's right to the throne and therefore the legitimacy of the government. However in other countries that use the Westminster system (for example, New Zealand), the opposition is known simply as The Parliamentary Opposition instead of shadow.

Vladimir Putin takes Oleg Deripaska to task
EXCERPT:
Anxious to ensure that the Pikalevo problem remained an isolated one, Mr Putin sought to cast himself as the town’s saviour – and Mr Deripaska as its villain.

The prime minister rounded on the hapless tycoon as they toured a cement plant.

“Why has your factory been so neglected?” he demanded, as Mr Deripaska hung his head in apparent shame. “They’ve turned it into a rubbish dump. Why was everyone running around like cockroaches before my arrival? Why was no one capable of taking decisions?”

He then ordered the tycoon to pay all outstanding wages – £830,000 – before the day was out. Mr Deripaska was Russia’s richest man until last year. He has suffered a dramatic reversal of fortune as mounting debt has seen his assets shrink from £17?billion to about £2?billion today.

EXCERPT:
It subsequently emerged that Mandelson actually stayed on the yacht as a guest of Nathaniel Rothschild, the hedge fund manager and son of Lord and Lady Rothschild. Rothschild, the Times reported, had run out of room at his house.

The Liberal Democrats warned that Mandelson "needs to be extremely careful about any potential conflicts of interests" and said he should "not have been accepting hospitality from a billionaire who is a clear beneficiary of his policy decisions as European commissioner".
Narcissism and folks that disagree with them
EXCERPT:
Understanding Narcissism
Page Two

At one point, Craig informed his dad that he was moving in with his new girlfriend. When his dad asked why he didn’t wait until they married, Craig was incensed. “You’re not supporting me,” he shouted, as if his father should be duty-bound to feel exactly the same way Craig did about all of his decisions. Craig was oblivious to his father’s right to have a mind of his own, and when his father expressed his own beliefs, Craig felt betrayed. Craig didn’t have any boundary or differentiation between his thoughts and feelings and his dad’s. He thought his father should think and feel exactly as he did. To Craig, like many narcissists, “being loyal,” meant agreeing with him at every point!

In between a healthy degree of self-interest and pathological narcissism is a group of people who don’t fully fit the diagnostic criteria of pathological narcissism but do have a lot of leanings in that direction. They tend to be self-centered and not deeply concerned about others and may have only three or four of the criteria listed above. Among others they can include physicians, lawyers, and athletes who are overly controlling, “cocky,” proud of their accomplishments, or possibly use labels and license plates like “Top Doc,” “Super Lawyer,” or “Top Jock.”

Dick Cheney, Halliburton and the Rothschilds
EXCERPT:
In 1962, Halliburton bought Brown & Root, the giant Houston-based construction company. Brown & Root had also been founded in 1919, by Herman Brown and Dan Root, with Herman's brother George Brown coming in a few years later. Brown & Root started out paving roads and building bridges in rural Texas, and in 1940 got the contract to build the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. It built pipelines and ships during World War II, and in 1961 won the planning contract for the Manned Space Center in Houston. When Herman Brown died in 1962, George Brown sold the company to Halliburton to avoid a hostile takeover, though he remained as company chairman. He died in 1983.

Both Herman and George Brown were important figures in the internationally dominated Houston business world. Herman Brown was a director of the Rothschild-linked First City National Bank and pipeline operator Texas Eastern, which he and George founded to buy the "Big Inch" and "Little Inch" pipelines after World War II. George Brown served as chairman of the politically important Rice University for 15 of his 25 years on its board, and served on commissions for Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson, as well as on Texas State commissions from the 1930s through the 1970s.

In 1998, Halliburton made another major purchase, acquiring Dresser Industries for some $7.7 billion. Dresser had been founded by Solomon Dresser in 1880, and taken over in 1928 by W.H. Harriman & Company, the investment bank owned by the descendants of railroad magnate E.H. Harriman, himself a front for the British Royal Family. Under Averell and Roland Harriman, Dresser was a Skull & Bones shop, whose board included Bonesman and presidential father and grandfather Prescott Bush. Both Roland Harriman and Prescott Bush were directors of Union Banking Corp. when it was raided by Federal agents in 1942, under the Trading With the Enemy Act, for its dealings on behalf of Nazi Germany.

Faking it and boy do we have our work cut out for ourselves
EXCERPTs:
1) The False Self is misrepresented by the narcissist as his True Self. The narcissist is saying, in effect: "I am not who you think I am. I am someone else. I am this (False) Self. Therefore, I deserve a better, painless, more considerate treatment." The False Self, thus, is a contraption intended to alter other people's behaviour and attitude towards the narcissist.
These roles are crucial to survival and to the proper psychological functioning of the narcissist. The False Self is by far more important to the narcissist than his dilapidated, dysfunctional, True Self.

2) Let's start by referring to an oft-occurring question:
Why are narcissists not prone to suicide?

The simple answer is that they died a long time ago. Narcissists are the true zombies of the world.

3) Emulation
The narcissist is possessed of an uncanny ability to psychologically penetrate others. Often, this gift is abused and put at the service of the narcissist's control freakery and sadism. The narcissist uses it liberally to annihilate the natural defences of his victims by faking empathy.

This capacity is coupled with the narcissist's eerie ability to imitate emotions and their attendant behaviours (affect). The narcissist possesses "emotional resonance tables". He keeps records of every action and reaction, every utterance and consequence, every datum provided by others regarding their state of mind and emotional make-up. From these, he then constructs a set of formulas, which often result in impeccably accurate renditions of emotional behaviour. This can be enormously deceiving.

Social Narcissism
EXCERPT:
Social narcissism represents the dark side of intelligence and communication skills. As humans become more intelligent, as we improve our ability to communicate with others, our prospect for understanding reality increases, but our prospect for massive self-deception increases to the same degree.

We live in a time of great opportunity — we've built an intellectual framework suitable for exploring reality (science), we have the time and resources needed to support the investigation, but we're being held hostage by narcissism and narcissists, who seem inevitably to occupy society's positions of religious, legal and political power. The greatest fear these people have — what I call the "narcissistic panic" — is that science will discredit all conventional sources of authority, requiring everyone to think and choose, as individuals, based on imperfect information. This terrifying prospect is the motivating force behind most anti-scientific and anti-rational activism.

The narcissistic world view is that there is an overarching, transcendental authority that controls the universe, and the purpose of earthly existence is to ally oneself with this authority in order to achieve a position beyond error or reproach. This world view represents a retreat from intellectual freedom, a willing regression to the status of herd animals, of drones. One problem with the retreat is that someone will take charge of the sheep. Another problem is that the authority, the key to the entire system, doesn't exist.

Therefore it seems that narcissistic panic and retreat from freedom inevitably lead to the rise of tyrants. Each of history's tyrants is only one term in an equation that requires other terms — like ignorance, wishful thinking, irresponsibility, and mental laziness.

Human beings are very fragile
EXCERPT:
Once victimised, the narcissist swore "no more". He will do the victimizing now. And as a decoy, he presents to the world his False Self. But he falls prey to his own devices. Internally impoverished and undernourished, isolated and cushioned to the point of suffocation – the True Ego degenerates and decays. The narcissist wakes up one day to find that he is at the mercy of his False Self as much as his victims are.

What if your best friend is a narcissist
EXCERPT:
Narcissists are actors and actresses putting on a show.

Can a narcissist ever be a true friend
EXCERPT:
•It depends if someone has traits or fully blown NPD. Generally speaking, no I don't think they can. Friendship is based on trust, how can you trust someone who is only friends with you because of what they can gain from you?

Narcissism and the anger it causes
EXCERPT:
Narcissism might be fun for a little while, but the fun definitely won't last. Somebody's going to get angry, either the narcissist or the people around them.

So, whether it's you or somebody else that is narcissistic, there's going to be some anger and irritation sooner or later.

This is where you're going to find out how to understand this problem and what to do about it.
Empaths spotting narcissists
EXCERPT:
HOW EMPATHS CAN PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM NARCISSISTS

Empath or not, you can look forward to a life of fulfillment, freedom, and balance.

Your first step is simple: Cut cords of attachment to every narcissist in your life, present or past.

Until you cut that cord, you’re going to have that narcissist’s STUFF playing inside your subconscious mind 24/7. It’s a very toxic kind of stinking thinking. Cutting cords to any narcissist is easy and fast and permanent, when done by a professional at Energy Spirituality.

The OCEAN has five dimensions . . .
Who are OK and who are not, is not always shown by appearances. They may be deceiving. To estimate another, you are free to judge his or her words, but always take into account that long-range actions tend to speak louder than words, and that the stable settings that persons accommodate to, speak more.

For all that, "most human personality traits can be boiled down to five broad dimensions of personality, regardless of language or culture." It is done by something called factor analysis. The five dimensions that have emerged from statistical data analyses, are at times compared with five "big buckets" (groups). They are the Big Five, that make up the OCEAN (an acronym). This Five Factor Model is FFM, in short. Since the 1990s the consensus of psychologists have gradually came to support the Big Five.

It allows for renaming the factors, as wll be shown below. The first letters of the five factors - Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism - give the acronyms of OCEAN (and CANOE if rearranged). Neuroticism is sometimes called Emotional Stability, and also "Need for Stability". There is some disagreement about how to interpret the Openness factor - called "Originality" below, and "Intellect" by others.

Each of the five factors consists of a cluster of more specific traits that correlate together. The Big Five is currently the most reliable and well-validated system of trait description. Feel free to think, "The Big 5 - fit for times of peace, more unfit for war, perhaps", because openness and agreeableness may hinder combatting, and extroversion too may not fit secrecy making and desorientation (lying) that often goes along with outwardly successful warfare. Compare the traits below.

The "Big Five" (each trait exists on a high/low scale) is the most used current psychometric measurement perspective in personality psychology. The five dimensions, with alternate terms put in brackets - are:

Openness (Originality) - has to do with Culture, Originality, or Intellect - appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, unusual ideas, curiosity, and variety of experience
Conscentiousness (Consolidation) - or Will to Achieve - a tendency to show self-discipline, act dutifully, and aim for achievement; planned rather than spontaneous behaviour
Extroversion - or Surgency - energy, positive emotions, surgency, and the tendency to seek stimulation and the company of others
Agreeableness (Accommodation) - a tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic towards others
Neuroticism (Need for Stability) - on the negative side of the fifth factor is a tendency to experience unpleasant emotions easily, such as anger, anxiety, depression, or vulnerability; sometimes called Negative Emotionality, and emotional instability

Dyslexia
EXCERPT:
Why is dyslexia a gift?
Dyslexic people are visual, multi-dimensional thinkers. We are intuitive and highly creative, and excel at hands-on learning. Because we think in pictures, it is sometimes hard for us to understand letters, numbers, symbols, and written words.

We can learn to read, write and study efficiently when we use methods geared to our unique learning style.

On the day I married my first husband my Dad said the church would surely fall down if he attended....... HE DID IT FOR ME!!!

Having said that my Dad said the only thing he took out of religion was the Golden Rule. hmmmmmm,,,,,,,,,, Could it be true that my old Daddy was right??? R.I.P. Daddy, I luv you.

THE ANTITHESIS OF NARCISSISM: TRY EMPATHY The opposite of narcissism: empathy
Published on April 23, 2010
The marker for maternal narcissism is lack of empathy and the inability to tune into the emotional welfare of others, especially children. So if we want to go in the opposite direction for our own growth and understanding, we need to be aware of this thing called empathy. True empathy requires the ability to tune into other people emotionally and be able to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes. I wonder why this is so difficult for so many and why we all struggle in some ways with this important component of relating to others.

To be a true child advocate, empathy is a key for parenting and for establishing other satisfying relationships in life. I will always believe that the greatest gift we can give another person is the ability to tune into their feelings and give them validation and acknowledgement whether we agree with them or not. How many times as a parent or a love partner, do we face this difficult dilemma? How good are we really at this crucial skill and why are we not standing on our heads trying to learn this simple key to healthy parenting and interactions with others? Are we just too immersed in this current narcissistic culture or too busy that we don’t think about it? Maybe we got no role modeling from our parents or grandparents. Maybe nobody cares. Do we live in such a self-absorbed culture that this has become unimportant to most or do we just not know how to do it?

Over the years in my various roles as parent, nana, and long time psychotherapist, I have found that tuning into others using empathy and acknowledgment of feeling is the greatest tool we could ever learn.

Relating with empathy means first understanding what someone is saying to us. The simple reflection of “this is what I heard you say,” is important because we tend to make assumptions or do projections and therefore don’t always understand, or take the time to understand, what someone is saying. The key is to listen to the feelings expressed. If we don’t, we are likely to plant our own interpretation and it is usually or 90% of the time wrong. So, we have to reflect back what we are hearing before we can really respond in an understanding way. As a parent, love partner, or friend, we want to understand what the other is saying to us. We want them to feel heard. We have to get this correct first, before we can move on in the discussion.

Try it. When your child, partner or friend says something to you that involves feelings, ignore the context of what they are saying and listen to the feeling. Then reflect back that feeling. Example: “ I hear that you are really angry and sad.” Believe it or not, the other person does not really care at that moment if you agree or not. They want to be heard. Being heard, means you heard the feeling expressed. Then, if you get it right, try validating and acknowledging that feeling. “ You sound hurt and that must feel awful to you.” “Feeling wounded is difficult no matter what the issue.” “I love you and I don’t want you to have to feel that way.” “I care how you feel.”

These very simple words in this sequence can make all the difference in the world to that person whom you adore. The big red balloon of bottled up feelings in that other person is suddenly popped and they can settle down and talk to you because you cared enough to pick up on their important feelings.

If you think about it, when you talk to those you love, you don’t really care if they agree with you. You care if they notice how you feel. This sounds elementary, but in all my years of practice as a therapist, this is the one thing I teach the most. Why? Why do we not learn this wonderful relating skill somewhere? Shouldn’t we be teaching this in our own parenting and in our schools somewhere? What a difference it could make in relationships of all kind.

Think about the last time you were upset and who listened. Who cared about the feelings without trying to solve your problem… tell you what they would do… or relate a similar experience that they once had. At that moment, you do not want someone to solve your problem. You don’t even care if they experienced something similar. You want to be heard. We all do.

Adult children of narcissistic parents have an incredible void in this area. They grew up without validation or acknowledgment of feelings and that is why they become adults who grow up with self-doubt. If someone validates and acknowledges your feelings it makes you feel real. Remember that wonderful children’s book: The Velveteen Rabbit, written by Margery Williams? I love that book because the rabbit and the skin horse talk about love and becoming real. The skin horse gives this advice to the rabbit.

“ It doesn’t happen all at once…you become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” To me, the beauty in this book and passage is that when someone tunes into your feelings…it is then that you feel Real and Loved.

I send you to find The Velveteen Rabbit and read it to yourself and your kids. Then practice some empathy with others this week. Get back to me on this. I am curious if you find the same wonderful connection that I am referring to. This is truly the antithesis of narcissism. We all want to be heard and loved. To bring this to our lives, we have to give it. What could be better than reciprocity in empathy with those we love and adore?

CEOs and Narcissism
EXCERPT:
Findings – Four perspectives important for understanding corporate strategy are highlighted: the importance of CEO-speak as a linguistic marker of CEO narcissism; the revealing nature of metaphors chosen by CEOs; the potential rhetorical potency that arises from the way CEO-speak is framed; and the significance of cultural keywords.

Sarah Palin a narcissist
EXCERPT:
Two therapists responded to my request to diagnose Sarah Palin, independently identifying her condition as Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which accounts for the disconnect between reality and her reactions. One added, "I believe McCain has it also, but it may have been somewhat tempered by age. What's so refreshing about Obama is that he seems completely lacking in the typical personality dysfunction you see in politicians."

Symptoms are:
A grandiose sense of self-importance (exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements).

The process of "tapping a running mate" isn't passive and, in fact, is initiated by candidates proposing themselves. This aspect of the disorder explains how Palin could view herself as competent (though it doesn't account for the Republicans who support her). Most of us are amazed by her seeming absence of self-doubt, announcing "I didn't blink" and repeatedly boasting about "fighting the old boy network" and rejecting money for the bridge to nowhere, claims disputed by others.

Preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love.

Al Haig was a Narcissist
EXCERPT:
Just a few days after his president had begun to suspect that Haig was "seeing things that aren't there," on March 30, 1981, to be exact, this neurotic narcissist seized the microphone and made a clumsy attempt to seize power. With Reagan lying critically injured in the hospital, Haig announced in the Situation Room that "the helm is right here, and that means right in this chair for now, constitutionally, until the vice president gets here." As his rival Richard Allen commented, having caught the megalomaniacal drivel on tape, this was "out" by several degrees and intermediate officers mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. "But Haig's demeanor signaled that he might be ready for a quarrel, and there was no point in provoking one."

George Bush has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder
EXCERPT:
First and foremost, George W. Bush has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. What this means, mostly, is that he has rather desperate insecurities about himself, and compensates by constructing a grandiose self-image........

Even as a narcissist, Bush knows he isn't a great intellect, and compensates by dismissing the value of intellect altogether..............

The most disturbing aspect about narcissists, however, is their pathological inability to empathize with others......
Hence Bush's horrifying insensitivity to the Katrina victims, his callous jokes when visiting grievously injured soldiers, and numerous other instances. The guy simply has no capacity to feel for others in that way.

Does Al Gore suffer from Narcissistic Personality Disorder
EXCERPT:
There may be a medical explanation for what makes Al Gore tick. On the basis of his actions and writings over many years my guess is Gore suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. The criteria for this diagnosis, as described in the psychiatrist’s bible, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, include a ” pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts,” as indicated by these manifestations:

*** “A grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements).” Gore regularly demonstrates his grandiosity. Who can forget his notorious claim that he had been instrumental in creating the Internet? But far more serious and complex are Gore’s delusions about issues of technology and environmentalism, such as his repeated endorsement of anti-technology tracts and criticism of technological advances while a congressman, senator and vice president. His writings generally place science and technology at odds with “the natural world” and, by inference, with the well-being and progress of mankind.

*** “Preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love; believes that he or she is ‘special’ and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).”

Hillary Clinton's narcissism
EXCERPTS:
1) This problem is exemplified in a brilliantly etched and elegantly deconstructed portrait of Mrs. Clinton by former Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan. Thus, the focus of The Case Against Hillary Clinton is not Mrs. Clinton's kitsch Marxism or perverse feminism or cynical progressivism. Instead, it is her narcissism.
2) The wit is sharp but the point just wide of the mark. There are many unprincipled narcissists in politics. But there has never been a White House so thoroughly penetrated by the political left. Noonan's psychological characterization is surely correct. But if Hillary and Bill Clinton were unable to draw on the dedication and support of the left—if they were Republicans, for example—there would be no prospect of a continuance of Them.

Bill Clinton's destructive narcissistic ways
EXCERPTS:
1) Alexander Lowen, M.D., asks a curious question in the last chapter of his book, "Narcissism: Denial of the True Self." He asks on "what grounds can we describe the state of our culture as insane?" After passing over the legal and psychiatric definitions of insanity, Lowen offers a common sense definition. Today's culture is insane because it is self-destructive.
2) Where can we find, in our immediate political landscape, a destructive individual with an equally destructive agenda? If the society itself has become narcissistic and self-destructive, then society's higher leadership should also prove to be narcissistic and self-destructive.

As it happens, we have President Bill Clinton, who personifies the West's self-destructiveness. If you do not believe this, consider Clinton's recent behavior. While Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr was investigating him, Clinton dared to make sexual advances on Kathleen Willey and Monica Lewinsky. He committed perjury in the Paula Jones lawsuit. The result was national humiliation and impeachment.

John McCain the narcissistic carpetbagger
EXCERPT:
Michael Leahy, in today’s Washington Post, has an extended front page article on the genesis of John McCain’s political career and consuming lust for the Presidency of the United States. Previous reports here have delineated McCain’s narcissistic and arrogant willingness to say or do anything that will benefit his interest of the moment. Leahy fleshes out the personal history behind McCain’s craven thirst for power.

Narcissism
EXCERPT:
1. Excessive love or admiration of oneself.
2. A psychological condition characterized by self-preoccupation, lack of empathy, and unconscious deficits in self-esteem.
3. Erotic pleasure derived from contemplation or admiration of one's own body or self, especially as a fixation on or a regression to an infantile stage of development.
4. The attribute of the human psyche characterized by admiration of oneself but within normal limits.

Narcissistic abuse
EXCERPT:
Narcissism is categorized as a personality disorder by the mental health profession. It is referred to as NPD or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Few are ever diagnosed because few go to therapy. Narcissism is not high self-esteem, but a condition where the typical narcissist suffers from

Preoccupation with hiding real or perceived flaws
Overestimation of importance, achievements, talents and skills

Maladaptive attention seeking behavior
Inability to empathize with others
Excessive anger and shame in response to criticism often resulting in rage
The narcissist will often manipulate others, especially partners, to control them. Projection and blame are hallmarks of this manipulation. It is estimated that 85% of narcissists are males. This site respects all victims of emotional abuse, both male and female.

America a nation of narcissists

by: Joseph Marohl

Narcissism is a personality disorder characterized by grandiose posturing to disguise a weak self-esteem. Narcissists exhibit the following symptoms:

■thinking they are superior to other people
■assuming that others ought to automatically go along with their schemes
■believing they are exceptions to rules
■exaggerating their accomplishments and abilities
■expecting approval, never accepting blame
■failing in relationships
■ignoring feelings, needs, and values other than their own
■indulging in fantasies of their importance, power, and irresistibility
■insulting those whom they think are inferior, but overly sensitive to others’ criticism
■resenting others’ good fortune or success, but assuming that others envy them
■setting impossible standards and goals
■taking advantage of others’ good nature, weakness, or gullibility
■wearing a mask of toughness, coolness, or emotional detachment

If these sound familiar, the reason is that we Americans are a nation of narcissists. Yes, this is me in my apocalyptic mode. Sorry.

Not that there’s anything wrong with healthy self-esteem. But narcissism has nothing to do with healthy self-esteem, which is generous, cooperative, egalitarian, and not easily threatened or insulted; in fact, the two conditions are opposites. Narcissism is the exaggerated pretense of self-esteem to hide insecurity, guilt, anxiety, inner conflict, and fear. Narcissism is a mental illness.

Divorcing was it your narcicissm
EXCERPT:
Because I have to tell you, it doesn’t matter who was the culprit, more than likely the marriage can’t survive. The thing with narcissists is that they think only of themselves. They are selfish, self-absorbed and insensitive. The narcissist thinks nothing of spending the last $5000 in the marital account on plastic surgery. Or leaving a sick spouse behind to attend a ball game with friends; or using the family home as collateral for a hair-brained business idea and then taking all the money loaned and splurging on expensive vacations and showy cars.

Menendez boys kill their parents
EXCERPT:
A tough, ruthless businessman, Menendez usually got what he wanted. He helped the struggling movie company turn a profit in less than two years and was rewarded handsomely for his endeavors with a $500,000 annual salary. His earnings allowed him to own a nice home in Calabasas, drive luxury cars and provide for his two sons.

Lyle and Erik Menendez were treated like royalty. They attended the best private schools, drove the most expensive cars, and were assigned private instructors to help them with their tennis game. Anything they wanted, Jose and Kitty Menendez gave it to them.

JonBenet Ramsey
EXCERPT:
The first images of JonBenet Ramsey that were broadcast to the world showed a pretty little girl in heavy make-up and flamboyant costumes parading across a stage. At the time, the media described her as "a painted baby, a sexualized toddler beauty queen."

From the day in 1996 when JonBenet was found dead in the basement of her home in Boulder, Colorado, the Boulder police and a large proportion of the world's media believed that her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were responsible for her death.

JonBenet Ramsey hit in face with golf club by her brother
EXCERPT:
Another factor to consider is that John or Patsy Ramsey could easily carry the 45-pound JonBenet – they wouldn't have to drag her. The 8-inch skull fracture indicates she fell or was thrown against a curved surface (not a sharp surface, or it would have lacerated the skull). In the summer of 1994, Burke accidentally hit JonBenet in the left cheek with a golf club he was swinging, an injury severe enough for Patsy Ramsey to take her daughter to a plastic surgeon, who did not feel surgery was warranted.

The National Enquirer reported, On Sept. 1, 1998, that Burke told Dr. Suzanne Bernhard, a Boulder child psychologist, that he was "getting on with my life." He reportedly said this on Jan. 8, 1997 – 13 days after JonBenet died.

Beth Ramsey older sister of JonBenet died in car accident
EXCERPT:
"He'd already lost his eldest daughter," Thomas said, referring to Beth Ramsey, a daughter from John's first marriage, who died in a car accident. "Now he's lost his youngest daughter. Was he then going to lose a spouse too?" The key evidence to back his theory, Thomas said last week, are the key components of the ransom note: the pen, the pad, the handwriting, the linguistics. All, he insists, belonged to Patsy Ramsey.

Are performers raging narcissists
EXCERPT:
The psychology of narcissism

But what is narcissism? The basic idea is being obsessively self-absorbed, always putting your own needs first, having poor empathy or appreciation for other people’s needs etc. But what is behind someone operating that way?

Alice Miller writes in The Drama of the Gifted Child about childhood harm leading to compromised emotional life as an adult, including those kinds of behavior.

Miller has been quoted about the word ‘gifted’ in the title: “I had in mind neither children who receive high grades in school nor children talented in a special way. I simply meant all of us who have survived an abusive childhood thanks to an ability to adapt even to unspeakable cruelty by becoming numb… Without this ‘gift’ offered us by nature, we would not have survived.”

Drama Gifted Child Search Revised
EXCERPT:
As charming performers who skillfully reflect their parents expectations, far too many children grow into adults driven to greater and greater achievements by an underlying sense of worthlessness. Never allowed to express their true feelings, and having lost touch with their true selves, they act out their repressed feelings with episodes of depression and compulsive behavior. They in turn inflict the same legacy of repression on their own children.

Manhood in Hollywood from Bush to Bush
EXCERPT:
My central argument is that a struggle between narcissistic and masochistic modes of manhood defines Hollywood masculinity in the Bush-to-Bush period; this claim proceeds from the contention that a profound shift in gendered representation occurred during the Bush 41 years. In Marching in Place, Michael Duffy and Dan Goodgame critiqued what they called the "status quo presidency" of the first Bush.

All black or all white but no shades of grey
EXCERPT:
Splitting is a Freudian defence mechanism in which an object or idea (or, alternatively, the ego) is separated into two or more parts in order to remove its threatening meaning. Freud referred to splitting as a mental process by which two separate and contradictory versions of reality could co-exist. Ref This conceptualization of splitting defines an ego that allows reality to be both acknowledged and denied. Splitting is a defence mechanism present in all narcissists and codependents. They see people and situations in black and white terms, all bad or all good, with no shades of gray.

Chuck Shumers narcissism
EXCERPT:
But right as I was leaving, I asked him what he thought about that joke about him: “the most dangerous place to stand in Washington is between Chuck Schumer and a camera.”

For the first time, his face fell. I so wish the camera had still been rolling.

Does Someone Close to You Suffer from Narcissism?

Hi, I'm Kim Cooper ... Welcome to our site! Maybe you know my husband Steve and I from "The Love Safety Net," our popular online movies or radio show? Well today I will share with you some of our history which I believe may help if you are having problems with chronic fighting and/or abuse in your family or your marriage.
"Our story involves narcissism or NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder), a major factor in domestic abuse and chronic fighting and we have gone public with our experience to help others learn to recognize and deal with this all too common problem."

After years of conflict, I was directed to read information on-line which led me to suspect Steve was suffering from Narcissism or NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder).

"When I talked to a professional mental health worker about my suspicions, he agreed and told me outright that I should divorce Steve and that there was no cure. Worse I was treated a complete fool for thinking he could get better."
Despite this (and even though his behaviour was hurting me) I refused to abandon him. In my heart I knew that leaving was the wrong thing for me to do. There HAD to be answers. I received lots of professional help and advice, learned a lot about psychology (and made tons of mistakes) until finally discovered (from a local police officer) the first of the steps I would take to end the fighting and bring peace to our lives.

First I am going to tell you a little about narcissism, but please note that I am not saying this was all Steve's fault. Later in my story you will learn about codependence which now I know was my role in our problems. These are problems which, just like us, I believe that you can overcome..........
